We made reservations for our anniversary. When we got to our table they had a handwritten card and at the end of the meal a free dessert. We had the appetizer combo, it was enough to be its own meal for two! It was 3 different appetizers: calamari rings with fried artichokes and lemons, steak tips with polenta, and fried ravioli in marinara and pesto. All very tasty. We enjoyed pasta for our main, only able to finish half our plates and took the rest home with the dessert. Very good service, food and atmosphere.
This has become one of my favorite places to eat in downtown Anchorage. The atmosphere and food are top-notch relative to the asking price. In truth, I haven’t had a better filet anywhere else downtown. The last time I ate there, the filet was accompanied by a green peppercorn Chianti reduction—an amazing complement to the cut of meat. My wife had the lobster, which, like the steak, was expertly prepared and well balanced on the plate. The atmosphere is quiet and sophisticated. We asked for a table out of the way, which was honored perfectly. All in all, it’s a place worth trying if you’re in downtown.
Best meal I’ve had in Anchorage. Crab-stuffed shrimp w/ pesto pasta was superb. Great service and great ambiance. Excellent wine by the glass selection, and wine glasses were high quality.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. The food was superb and the atmosphere very casual and comfortable. The service was acceptable if a little slow. I will definitely consider this as a dining option in the future.
The bar tender Kevin changed everything. He went above and beyond. I will say there deserts are pre made and frozen. Avoid them, but everything else was great. The tenderloin appetizer was overcooked. Avoid that also
The food here was very good and we focused on seafood, namely, the king crab, and a halibut dish, both of which were fresh and delicious. A vegetarian colleague reported that the portobello mushroom parm was excellent. Service was quick and friendly and they have good dessert options too. The place gets very crowded and we reserved an early table to avoid the wait.
Never disappointed in the food! The tenderloin tips appetizer is so delicious and rich! I always get that. The creme brulee is a devine sweet little cup of heaven. Last time I was here they had sold out of it as well as the osso buco, a lamb shank. I've only herd of great things about this item ut havent had it yet. Next time I will come with a ravenous appetite for the lamb shank. They have a small but good non alcoholic drink menu. For this holiday season they have a special drink menu available. They have open seating at the bar (right side) so I didn't have to wait. They have a 2nd floor as well. I suggest reservations for larger parties.
Had an amazing dinner. Food was absolutely delicious and seasoned great. The filet had to be one of the best steaks I ever had.
Great filet mignon! Expensive! Worth it. The food here was amazing. Eveything had God taste, flavor, and texture. The mashed potatoes were great. The steak was cooked perfect and the sauce was tasty. Somehow I had never made it into this place. Go here instead of Simon's (Simon and seaforts). I'll let the images speak
I’ve heard people in town say Orso is overrated and I completely disagree. It’s our first time here and had a DELICIOUS meal! We were so full and our foodie souls were satisfied afterwards. We ordered the Filet Mignon and it was a great portion enough for two and had this tasty demi glace that I couldn’t get enough of. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was so so tender. We also ordered the Seafood Gemelli which was packed with so much protein and was elevated with pasta from AK Pasta Company (I always love the pasta from places who use them) and a cream based lemon pesto sauce. Ambiance was also beautiful and not rowdy despite how busy it was. Service is great too and they even offered me a vase for my flowers. Cannot wait to come back! Thank you Orso. ♥️
